Owning a dog is one of the best choices that you have ever made. A dog is truly a friend that is always there for you no matter what life throws at you. Because you love your dog so much you make sure that they are always taken care of. You make sure that they have a healthy diet, an exercise program, and that they just get a lot of love. If you are a good dog owner you get a lot of joy out of spoiling your dog, and your dog loves you for it. There are a few things that each dog owner should be aware of, emergency dog behaviors. If you ever see your dog act in one of the three following ways, take your dog to the veterinarian.

No Appetite

You know your dog better than anyone, and if an occasional meal is skipped then no big deal. However, if a dog just simply does not want to eat for an extended period of time there are a number of things that could be going on with the dog. Obviously your dog needs to get nutrition or he or she will start to wither away. Take special note if your dog is not drinking, as this can lead to dehydration very quickly. Dehydration and a malnourished dog do not mix very well. If you notice your dog not ingesting any food or water, it is time to take them to the veterinarian.

Constant Vomiting

You may hear rumors that dogs will often eat grass to help them vomit. This is generally not a true statement, a dog usually eats grass to help them with digestion or to give them a nutrient that they may be missing in their diet. So, if your dog is throwing up, it is not because they ate some grass. Check the vomit for any blood and try to see if the dog is more lethargic than usual. Vomiting is a common consequence of a dog that has parvo. If your dog throws up more than once in a day, it is time to take your dog to the veterinarian.

Go With Your Gut

This is your dog and you know it better than anyone, if your dog is acting differently than usual, it is a great idea to take them to the veterinary hospital. You will never be sorry that you took them in, and found out not much was wrong. However, if you do not take them in and something is wrong you may never forgive yourself.
